  14. ABOUT THE FONT

  17. BACH consists of screen and laser printer fonts for professional 
  18. quality display and printout under Windows 3.0 or 3.1's graphical
  19. environment.

  21. BACH contains both a comprehensive set of musical symbols AND 
  22. usual numbers or alphabetical characters in a single font. 
  23. This enables anyone who wish to write musicological sentences.

  25. Shareware version includes Postscript Type 3 fonts, Windows BMP,
  26. plus HP Laserjet II/III portrait fonts (8, 10, 12, 14 pts).

  34. * Almost WYSIWYG effect without Adobe Type Manager.
  35.   (TrueType and ATM version are supplied for Registered
  36.    users, which give TRUE WYSIWYG!)

  38. * Unlike Adobe's postscript font for music "SONATA", 
  39.   Bach is a Roman family font and is fully compatible 
  40.   with normal applications, such as wordprocessor, 
  41.   spreadsheet and database.

  43. * Bach enables you to write musical and musicological 
  44.   sentences in most Windows applications that are capable 
  45.   of choosing Windows' fonts. If you are a spreadsheet or 
  46.   a database user (under which you are normally permitted 
  47.   to use one font only for a field / record), this font 
  48.   is probably the only option for you.

  59. CONCEPT OF THE FONT

  62. To carry out my research work in musicology, I used database 
  63. in Windows, which allowed me to use graphic symbols. 
  64. But I needed to develop a font which had both music symbols 
  65. and ordinary alphabetical characters in a single font in order 
  66. to compile my database. 
  67.  
  68. Bach preserves the characters in normal ROMAN family typeface 
  69. in the range "0-9, A-Z, a-z, "'`()+;:?[]/{}|". Music symbols 
  70. occupy the rest of the keys on the keyboard "ú$%^&*-=#~@<>"  
  71. as well as the extended ASCII range accessible by Windows' 
  72. applications.

  74. Upon registration, you will receive a registered version of 
  75. fonts, a printed manual and several other gifts including 
  76. Music Symbol Editor for Wingz and Ami Pro.
